Exadata 11M was announced in January 2025. Learn about its latest features and highlights, as well as how one of the largest payment processing companies migrated its mission-critical databases to Exadata with zero downtime. During the migration, databases were upgraded from Oracle 12c (12.1) to Oracle Database 19c. This discussion will cover the technical architecture, how Platinum MAA was achieved, and, most importantly, how performance risks were mitigated.
The migration posed numerous challenges, as the databases supported a global financial client base. The production database migration to Exadata was completed with a zero-downtime architecture, using a "live cutover" while continuing to process application data. The Exadata clusters consisted of two sets of 10-node RAC compute nodes across two data centers.
Technologies leveraged included:
- Data Pump
- GoldenGate
- Real Application Testing
- 10-node RAC cluster
- Global Data Services
